History Lessons

Tekton doesn't only work on new construction projects, one of our current jobs is a restoration project on a building that is over 100 years old. The Kilby General Store Site in Harrison Mills, BC was built in 1906 and is currently operated as a museum by the Kilby Historic Society.

The building functioned as a general store and post office for most of it's existence and the museum is full of fascinating items accumulated throughout the building's history. You can also visit with the knowledgable museum staff dressed in period clothing.

Unfortunately, the exterior of the building is need of repair. The restoration work will include: replacement of the roof; removal and repair of the windows; repair of the front porch; and repair and paint of the siding.

Restoration is scheduled to begin in July and should be complete in a few months. However, the museum will remain open throughout construction so be sure to stop by and visit this wonderful piece of BC's history. In addition to the museum, they also operate a small restaurant, making it a great place for a Sunday drive and lunch.

Tekton Begins a First for Maple Ridge

We are excited to announce that Tekton has begun pre-construction work on a new six storey, wood framed building. Changes to the BC Building Code now allow for the construction of wood framed buildings up to six storeys. This building will the first of its kind in Maple Ridge and one of only a few in BC.

The site is located at the southeast corner of Lougheed Highway and 223rd Street in Maple Ridge, a lot that is a gateway to downtown but unfortunately has been empty for close to 100 years. The new building will consist of one floor of commercial along Lougheed Highway, 43 residential units and two levels of underground parking.

Construction is set to begin in Summer 2011 and we will be sending out tender packages to interested subtrades over the next few months. If you would like to be added to the list of bidders, email Jared at jared@tektonprojectmanagement.ca.

With the completion of construction on the Flagship Professional Building we have moved into our new second floor office. The building was designed by our sister company, Wayne Stephen Bissky Architecture, and the project was managed by Tekton. The building has seven commercial units in total, four of which are already sold. Stop by and say hello, we're excited to show off our new digs.
